STEP 2 (WE APPLY FOR YOUR PIN NUMBER)

We will submit your required documents to the Busan Immigration Office. In about a week, they will issue your VISA ISSUANCE (PIN) NUMBER. You are now eligible to apply for the E2 VISA.

STEP 3 (YOU APPLY FOR YOUR E2 VISA AT THE KOREAN CONSULATE/EMBASSY)

You have now received your PIN number from us by e-mail.

If you are able to visit the Korean Consulate, you must take:
  • Your ORIGINAL passport
  • The completed application form we sent you
  • 2 passport sized pictures
  • Fee of about $50-75
  • UNOPENED transcript
  • Photocopy of your degree and Background check

If you are unable to go the Korean Consulate in person, you can do everything by express mail.
You must include all of the above + a self addressed stamped express mail envelope. Please contact the Korean Consulate in your area for the exact information as their requirements may have changed!

(Click here for a list of the Korean Consulates in your country)

YOU MUST ALSO SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW!

STEP 4 (FLIGHT AND ARRIVAL IN BUSAN)

You have now received your passport from the Korean Consulate and your work visa is stamped inside.

We should now have your flight booked. Confirm the details with the travel agent and make sure you are on the flight. We will meet you at the airport in Busan and take you to your school and apartment to make sure you are OK for the night. Someone from the school will also meet you to make plans for your first day of school.

STEP 5 (MEDICAL TEST AND APPLYING FOR YOUR ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD)

Your school will send you to the hospital to take a medical test. They will be conducting a normal physical to make sure you have no health issues. They will also be taking a blood and urine sample and are testing for HIV, marijuana, cocaine, and possible other illegal drugs. In Korea, it is illigal to have any drugs in your system. They don't care if you consumed the drugs months ago or if it was in another country, if you test positive for any of them, then you will be deported.

After you passed the the medical test, you are eligible to go to the Busan Immigration Office and apply for your Alien Registration Card. This must be done before the temporary visa in your passport expires (usually 90 days).

Your school will need to give you 2 documents to submit:
1. Copy of a business license.
2. Proof of employment.

You will also need to take you passport with you as well as 2 passport sized pictures.

At the Immigrations Office, you will have to fill out an application and the fee is 10,000Won. This will get you a Single Entry Visa.

For an extra 50,000Won, you can get a multiple Entry Visa by filling out another form. This will enable you to leave Korea for a vacation during your year without having your E-2 Visa cancelled.
You will have to leave your passport at the Immigrations Office and return in about 2 weeks to pick up your Alien Registration Card. You can also request to have them mail your passport and Alien Registration Card to you.

JAPAN VISA RUN

(Only available to teachers that have had an E-2 VISA in the past or if you have had your degree verified)

Sometimes, when a school needs a teacher immediately, you will fly to Korea on a tourist visa. In this situation, you don’t have to do anything with the Korean Consulate in your country, as you would enter Korea as a tourist.

When your VISA ISSUANCE (PIN) NUMBER is ready, the school will send you to Japan to get your E-2 WORK VISA. Usually, this requires you to spend a night in Japan but the school will usually pay for the transportation to and from Japan as well as the hotel.

REMEMBER!

It is illegal to teach in Korea until you get your E-2 Visa. If you get caught teaching without an E-2 Visa, you will be fined 1,000,000 Won and deported. Your school will be fined 2,000,000 Won. The immigration office and police are offering a reward of 3,000,000 Won to anyone that reports an illegal teacher, so people are very motivated to report you if you are teaching illegally. I've heard that even recruiters are calling in to collect the reward. Also, your E2 visa is school specific so you can't teach at another location unless you get it added at the immigration office.
